Turkey,near the modern town of Bergama.It was the capital of the Hellenistic
kingdom of Pergamon that was founded in the 3th century B.C.With the king
Attalos III, in 133, Pergamon became part of Roman empire and continued to hold
its importance during The Byzantine era.The ancient city consists of the lower
town and the acropolis perched on a high cliff, overlooking the plain. Today
the remains of the ancient town make the site one of the major
attractions of the ancient world.

Asklepion is an
ancient healing centre in Pergamon which was named after the healing God
Asclepius.Asklepion was a mixture between a medical centre and spa with the
facilities where the sick could relax and enjoy themselves with recreational
activities that took place in a 3500-seat theater.It was also the world’s first
phychiatric hospital. Then we head on back to Selcuk&Kusadasi.
