small church, cells and a frater, the dining room for the monks and a garden
outside. Due to many robbers and military conflicts in the region, the monks had
a safe room and when they were in need, they could close the door by a big and
heavy millstone and escape in a tunnel under the monastery and garden. Sobesos,
to see the ruins of a recently discovered (01 May 2002) ancient Roman and
Byzantine city, including some impressive mosaics. Soganli Valley, an
Open Air Museum in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocian village
with its different style Rock-Cut churches and frescoes. Villages in the
valleys, surrounded by the "table top" mountains, are spectacular.
Lunch and visit to Derinkuyu Underground City, one of the best preserved
, most visited and one of the most interesting Underground Cities in
Cappadocia, was opened to visitors in 1965, but so far only 10% can be
visited.The city is approximately 85m deep. It contains all the usual rooms
found in an underground city.

Ihlara, visit to Guzelyurt on the way. Southeast of Aksaray the peaceful small
town of Guzelyurt ( The ancient name of the town was Gelveri ) stands on the
edge of a gorge full of dramatic rock formations. For those who relish authenticity,
this is one of the parts of Cappadocia where traditional life lives on in its
most unaltered form. Güzelyurt (“Beautiful Home”) is most famous as the home of
St. Gregory of Nazianzus,one of the so-called Cappadocian Fathers whose
writings and teachings helped establish some of the fundamental tenets of
Christianity. Ihlara Valley is one of most popular stops in Cappadocia and
hosts both history and nature at the same time. It has become a significant
Christianity hub thanks to its natural formation and inaccessible structure.it
has churches decorated with historical frescos and unique nature.Walking in
Ihlara Canyon,up to Belisirma , (the ancient Peristrema) ,we have lunch in
Belisirma Village by the river. Stop by Selime, a village with cave houses at
the end of the canyon.

different formations of fairy chimneys can be watched.Valley is known also as
“imagination” or “Pink Valley” for resembling to some creatures. Pasabag, which
was formerly known as “The Monks Valley”, contains some of the most striking
fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps - formations
that are unique even for Cappadocia! Locals refer to them as the
mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. Proceed to Avanos (Venessa) the pottery centre
of Cappadocia, this village is set on the banks of the Kizilirmak/Red River.
The river gets its
name from the red clay deposits. You can watch the potters at work using
kick wheels, the technique which has remained unchanged for generations. Lunch
in a local restaurant. Continue to Goreme Open Air Museum. The world’s most
important Byzantine cave churches are found in these once remote valleys where
monks and nuns pursued monastic life from the 3rd century on. Here you can see
the best preserved Byzantine cave wall paintings and frescos from the
